I also had this problem with an Asus EEE 1001px. It also would not wake from sleep mode, having to do a hard reset to restart it.
ACPI/HPQ0004 PCI Unknown Device Driver [solved] Thursday, 2011.10.13 J.D. 69 comments Q. Hello, I have a HP laptop showing ACPI/HPQ0004 unknown device and I need to find the right drivers. Our database contains 1 drivers for ACPI WEC1022. For uploading the necessary driver, select it from the list and click on ‘Download’ button. Drivers Catalog ⇒ ACPI WEC1022 Our database contains 1 drivers for ACPI WEC1022. For uploading the necessary driver, select it from the list and click on ‘Download’ button. Apr 13, 2009 ACPI can be a problem on any computer. And until Apple improves Boot Camp drivers shipped with late 2008 and later systems - lazy? But I would not jump into the nonsense that it is a consiracy.
I solved the problem:
Search for Recovery
Select- Go back to windows 7
Got through the menus and wait while windows 7 reinstalls
Now it runs fine again.

I didnt think it was worth upgrading to Windows 10 for the asus eee running on windows 7. In addition to the issues above, it also ran slower in general, there were compatibility issues with old software, and startup took a long time, compared to my windows 8.1 toshiba which was upgraded to windows 10 and compared to win7 on this computer.
Theres also no support or drivers for win 10 for these computers although I might add that I kept all of the drivers and so I reinstalled the suggested chipset driver (intel install) which installed ok but didnt solve any problems. I tried installing all the other drivers I had and they either didnt work even in compatibility mode or reported that a newer driver was already installed.
Therefore, I think the best solution here is to go back to Windows 7 unless you wish to forever be trying to solve problems like this.

I installed XP for some gaming on my late 2008 MBP. However, a few minutes into the game, I get a black screen, sound loops for a few seconds and everything freezes. I can only power down the laptop and then power it back up.
In the Windows event log it shows:
Error (Source: acpi, Event: 10, time: 9:03:53)
ACPI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal PCI Operation Region (0x41c), Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.
Error (Source: acpiec, Event: 1, time: 9:04:09)
DeviceACPIEC: The embedded controller (EC) hardware didn't respond within the timeout period. This may indicate an error in the EC hardware or firmware, or possibly a poorly designed BIOS which accesses the EC in an unsafe manner. The EC driver will retry the failed transaction if possible.
Any ideas? I read on other forums that a BIOS update might help, however this is not applicable for Mac, obviously...
